Shooting at Surrey Café: VHP’s Rakesh Lakhi Claims Responsibility

Surrey, Canada – A violent shooting incident occurred at a café in Surrey, British Columbia, which is reportedly owned by Punjabi comedian Kapil Sharma. The attack was caught on video, and the footage has since gone viral across social media, sparking concern among the South Asian community.

According to emerging sources, Rakesh Lakhi, an alleged member of the Hindu nationalist group Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), has claimed responsibility for the shooting. In a video statement, Lakhi accused Sharma of supporting Khalistan sympathizers and criticized his decision to open businesses in Canada. He stated that establishing such ventures while Canada is allegedly working against Indian interests is “unacceptable.”

Rakesh Lakhi further warned that similar incidents could happen in the future. He is also believed to be affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a group under investigation in India for organized crime and high-profile attacks.

Canadian government officials and intelligence agencies have previously expressed concerns over India's alleged involvement in orchestrating or supporting gang activities on Canadian soil. These allegations have further strained diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Local law enforcement has launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities have not yet verified Lakhi’s claims or confirmed any political affiliations related to the attack. No injuries have been reported at this time.

The café is currently closed, and Kapil Sharma has yet to make an official public statement.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned to India Ajj Tak for further updates.
